Kathleen Mabel MCINTOSH

March 12, 2009

MCINTOSH, Kathleen Mabel

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kathleen McIntosh, 93, a dynamic woman who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her, on March 12 in White Rock, BC. Kathleen leaves behind her son Don McIntosh, daughter Janet McIntosh Newberry, granddaughters Christina and Andrea Newberry, and brothers Laurence Renton (Audrey) and Bruce Renton (Joyce).

Kathleen was born July 2, 1915 in London, Ontario. She dedicated her working life to the United Church of Canada, working as Director of Christian Education for Cedar Park United Church in Montreal and Program Coordinator at Cedar Glenn Conference Centre in Toronto. Both at work and in her daily life, she was a great teacher and communicator, especially in her work with young people. She was a member of the Toronto Story Tellers Guild who loved to perform and could captivate both adults and children with her expression and dramatic flair.

Kathleen was a vibrant woman, fully engaged with life to the very end. She was a natural athlete and a champion swimmer in her youth, and in her later years was known as "Speedy" for her agility with a walker. She was an avid reader and learner, and was enjoying Farley Mowatt's latest book on the day she died.

Kathleen's greatest pleasure was spending time with her family and her many friends - old and new. All who knew her were touched by her intense and intentional enjoyment of life, and we will all miss her positive attitude - and especially her hearty laugh.

In lieu of flowers, Kathleen's family would appreciate donations to First United Church. A memorial service and celebration of Kathleen's life will be held at First United Church in White Rock on Saturday, April 11 at 2:00 pm.
