Leonard Ghan

With sadness we report the death on March 6, 2008 of our husband, father and friend.

Sherman Leonard Ghan is survived by Judith, his loving wife of 48 years, daughter Susan (Larry Sue-Ping), son David (Paula Goncalves) and grandchildren George and Katie Sue-ping and Daniel and Natalia Ghan. He also leaves extended family members and many friends.

Leonard was born on September 11, 1938 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Sidney and Esther Ghan. He was brought up in Piney, Manitoba, Hoffer, Saskatchewan and Toronto, Ontario.

He earned his BA at the University of Saskatchewan, Master of Social Work at the University of British Columbia & a Master's degree in Psychology from the University of Regina. Leonard's life work was psychotherapy & he has been involved in mental hospitals, prisons and as a counselor in a group medical practice.

In 1964 he studied with Eric Berne and eventually became a teaching member of the International Transactional Analysis Association. He has practiced psychotherapy in South Surrey for 30 years.

We thank the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Peach Arch Hospital for the superb help given to Leonard and their kindness to his family.

A gathering to remember Leonard will be held at Beecher Place in Crescent Beach on Thursday, March 13th at 2:30 pm.

Leonard was a wise and loving man who will be greatly missed by family, friends, clients and colleagues. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the Cancer Society or the Peace Arch Hospital Foundation.
