SMITH, Mary Ada ‘Eleanor’.

On Thursday, May 11, 2006 Eleanor passed away at Lions Gate Memorial Hospital, Vancouver, BC. Eleanor was born on September 23, 1923 in Brandon MB to John and Ada Jane Durnin. She is predeceased by husband Bryan Smith and brother Stan Durnin. Eleanor attended school in her early years in Brandon MB, completing her Nursing Diplomas in 1950/51 at the University of Alberta. She resided in Trail, BC until coming to the coast in 1992. Since 1999 she has lived in White Rock, BC with her daughter Marilyn and family. Eleanor enjoyed and was very respected in her nursing career, which saw her working in variety of roles from Cominco Ltd’s company nurse to Infection Control and Occupational Health at the Trail Regional Hospital. She actively supported the BC Cancer Society and United Way. She is survived by daughters Dorothy (Chris) Watson of Camberley, England and Marilyn (Greg) & children Shivonne, Krista and Graham Scott of White Rock, BC. Also surviving is brother Cliff (Cecilia) Durnin of Brandon MB and sister Dorothy Durnin of White Rock BC. Eleanor will be deeply missed by all those who knew her.

A Memorial Service will be held at First United Church, White Rock, BC on Wednesday, May 17th at 1:30pm.
