AGNES, Mary Cowling(Dixon) 1909-2007


Agnes passed away peacefully January 26, 2007 with her children by her side. Agnes was born October 6,1909 in Souris, MB, the daughter of David and Margaret Dixon. She was raised and educated in Souris and married Charles Edgar (Ed) Cowling of Brandon, MB on April 18,1927. They relocated to the West Coast in 1940, raising their family in Vancouver, BC.


Upon retirement, Agnes and Ed eventually made their way to Breakaway Bays in Surrey. Agnes remained active throughout her life; bowling, playing tennis, traveling. She also welcomed newcomers to the area and served two terms as President of the Breakaway Bays Community Association. Her involvement and active lifestyle continued during her last years at Concord by the Sea and Newton Regency Care Home.


Agnes was predeceased by her son James, husband Ed, brothers Robert (Bob) and Gavin (Gus), sister Olive and daughter-in-law Marcia. She will be remembered with love by her brother Tom (Kay), children Arlene Beer and David (Diana), grandchildren Susan, Sharyn (Oscar) and Peter (Jamie); Jim and Shari (Dan); as well as nine great-grandchildren; Kayla, Taylor, Baggio, Dakota, Deborah, Benjamin, Rachel, Joel and Zachary.


Throughout her life Agnes maintained a grand and generous spirit, a wonderful sense of humor and love of life. Agnes was cherished by all who knew her and responded in kind with love and compassion.


A Celebration of her life will be held at Breakaway Bays Activity Center, 1840 160th St., Surrey, from 2 to 4 pm on Sunday February 18, 2007.
