SCHICK: Mary Anne (nee Kochaniuk) died peacefully in her 92nd year on June 4th, 2005 at Peace Arch Hospital with Rita and Frank by her side. Mary Anne was born April 13, 1914 in Abernathy, Sask, first child of Annie & Samuel. Predeceased by her husband Tony and daughter Joanne (Jantzi), 4 brothers and 4 sisters, she leaves to mourn her death and celebrate her life her loving family, daughter and son-in-law Rita Schick & Frank Potoma, son-in-law David Jantzi, grandchildren Jason (Roxanne), Leanna, Thaddeus (Jennifer) & Rebecca, sister Frances, brother Joe & Ed (Maureen)and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends throughout Canada (particularly Sask) the USA and Nigeria. Mary Anne spent her life working & caring for others. After only 4 years of schooling, she started working at age 12 to help support her family. Following her marriage to Tony in 1941 they moved to Regina where daughters Rita & Joanne were born. In 1956 the family moved to Vancouver where Mary Anne worked as a seamstress and tailor-privately and for Tri-Stevens-before moving to White Rock in 1973. Throughout her life she was an excellent cook and baker extraordinaire-generously sharing all with family, friends and "the old folks". Mary Anne was an active member of the CWL since 1945 in Sacred Heart Parish, Regina, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Vancouver and finally in Star of the Sea, White Rock. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 1153 Fir St. White Rock on Friday, June 10th at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mary Anne's memory to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC & Yukon.
