Mary SIMMERS

May 1, 2005

SIMMERS: Mary Enid. The life of Mary Simmers, a creative loving woman, came to a peaceful end on May 1, 2005. She will be lovingly remembered by her immediate family: daughter Bonnie Skobel, Frank and granddaughters Tara and Erin; son Bill Simmers, Pam and grandchildren Lisa, Julie and Jeff and her precious great granddaughter Madison; her sister Jessie Rotzien; and her adopted family Maureen, Ken and Lisa Linklater. Mary was predeceased by her husband Walter, her best friends Evelyn Thrift and Eva Folk. A gathering of close friends and family was held to celebrate her life. Mary was a very gifted lady who was always involved in an artistic endeavour. She was a painter, a potter, sewer, a photographer, candle, soap, box and candy maker, a caterer and an avid gardener. Mary earned the name of "Peace Grandma" by the students of Tynehead Elementary by folding 5000 paper peace cranes to help them in their quest to promote peace. However, Mary's most precious talent was making each of us feel that we were the most special person to her. Having lived in White Rock since 1950, some of Mary's fondest memories were the hours spent at the beach, water skiing and later boating with good friends. A special thank you to the staff at Ocean View Care Home for the compassionate care given to her.
