YOSHIKUNI, Matsuye "Mary Lou" (Harada) passed away peacefully with her family at her side on May 29, 2008. She was predeceased by her husband Paul in 2006, her parents Etsu and Yokaro, sisters Mary (Charlie), Edna (Lou), Betty (Frank), Helen, brother-in-law Mas and sister-in-law Ann. She is survived by her daughters Christine and Diane, grandchildren Kim (Bryan) and Kevin, sister Nancy (Hideo), brothers-in-law Larry and Shiz, sister-in-law Yurie, many nieces, nephews and friends. Matsuye was born on June 22, 1928 in Vancouver and after the war, lived in Montreal and later returned to BC with her family in 1973. Mom enjoyed bowling for many decades and had a trophy case proudly displaying her winning accomplishments. She kept active with her daily walks to the mall and loved going to the casino with her friends and family. As an avid baseball fan, she rooted for the Blue Jays and the Mariners. She was a strong, happy-go-lucky woman who had a generous heart of gold. Somehow, she always managed to find that perfect gift to give someone for any occasion. We don't know why she went so soon, but what we do know is that Dad is happy to be looking after his favourite girl once again. Our family would like to sincerely thank the doctors, nurses and care team in the Palliative Care Unit of Peace Arch Hospital for the care, compassion and support extended to Mom and our family. We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the many people at Peace Arch Hospital who Mom befriended over the years for their kindness and caring hearts. A special thanks also to Dr. Lowe, Dr. Leger and Dr. O'Leary. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers or koden, please make a donation to the Peace Arch Hospital and Community Health Foundation.
