Hart, Mervyn Hilliard

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mervyn Hilliard Hart of White Rock, BC at Peace Arch Hospital on April 8th 2008. Mervyn was born February 3rd 1937 on the farm at Punnichy Saskatchewan to Pearl and Edward Hart. He worked for the Bank of Montreal before attending the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon to receive an Agriculture Degree in 1960. In 1961 he married Beverley Scott from Tisdale Saskatchewan. They met at University where she attended the school of nursing. Mervyn entered the field of education and taught high school chemistry and other subjects in Nipawan Saskatchewan for 4 years, where their three children were born. In 1966 the family moved to New Westminster, B.C. where Mervyn taught for four more years. In 1972 he entered the horticulture field working for the city of Burnaby, Meadow Gardens Golf Course, Vancouver Golf Club as superintendent and for White Rock City as Parks Manager from 1985-2000 until retirement. Mervyn had been a dedicated member of Westminster Masonic Lodge since 1970, a thirty-third degree Scottish Rite Freemason, and a member of Gizeh Shrine in BC. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Masonic Cemetery in Burnaby. Mervyn was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Left to mourn are his loving wife of 46 years Beverley, daughter Debbie (Chris) grandson Ryan of England, son Cameron (Kelly) grandsons Spencer and Jasper of Victoria, son Brian of Vancouver, his brothers Elwood, Jim and Bob, sister Margaret and their families, other relatives, friends and associates. We love you Mervyn.

We would like to thank Dr. M. Hainc and Peace Arch Hospital staff for their recent loving care of Mervyn. In lieu of flowers a donation in Mervyn's memory to the Freemason's Cancer Car Program, 1495 West 8th Avenue, Vancouver, Peace Arch Hospital, 1st United Church (White Rock) Memorial Fund. Rest in Peace.

Memorial service will be held at the 1st United Church White Rock, 15385 Semiahmoo, at 2pm Saturday April 12.
