Meryle Evelyn Clee

Meryle Evelyn Clee (Shields) passed away quietly February 26th, 2004 in the Finlay Pavilion at Peace Arch Hospital.

Meryle was born and raised in New Westminster, the daughter of Roy and Hazel Shields, and graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Fine Arts summa cum laude. While enrolled at the University, Meryle was an active member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, the Truce Club, PEO and a number of other philanthropic organizations. Meryl was also an active member of the University Women's Club for many years. Meryle began her career in fashion at the Hudson's Bay Company as a model, rising to the position of Manager of the Fashion Department in addition to hosting a weekly radio program on fashion as "Dorothy Hudson".

Meryle's life was centered around her family and grandchildren, many of whom were with her when she passed away. She will always be remembered for her impeccable taste as well as her sense of humour and wit. She will be warmly remembered by her husband of 57 years Hugh and children, Candace, Robin (Harley), Jeff (Donna), Deborah (Mike), Gillian (Greg), Jennifer (Ben), her 11 grandchildren, as well as nieces Laurie and Kerry and nephew Hugh. A private gathering will be held for friends and family in the future.
