Michael Hans Otto Scholz

January 11, 2007

Born in Bad Eilsen, Germany on September 20, 1944, passed away at Peace Arch Hospital, White Rock, with his two children by his side on January 11, 2007.

Predeceased by his beloved wife of 34 years, Cecile, on December 11, 2005.

He is survived and missed by his loving children; daughter Tanja, husband Adrian and their children Veronica and Claudia; and his son Kelly, wife Bevin and their daughter Mila as well as two Aunts and his cousins in Germany and Tanzania.

He had a brave four month battle with lung cancer.

He loved humour, cars, animals, a good deal and supporting his favorite soccer club, Werder Bremen.

Dad had a very active lifestyle, enjoyed walking along the White Rock promenade and pier, traveling, and especially meeting people of different cultures and backgrounds.

After completing business studies in Germany, he was transferred to Toronto by his company and three years later transferred again to BC.

He and his wife loved the ocean and mountains of BC and never contemplated moving again.

For two decades they enjoyed life on their acreage in South Surrey with their children, then they built their dream home on Oxford Street, White Rock to enjoy the ocean view and retirement together.

He had great self discipline, was kind, generous, loved to laugh, enjoyed life and could be counted on to follow through with his commitments.

He will be greatly missed by those he met through work and pleasure.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Doctors, nurses and aides for the wonderful care of Dad in the Peace Arch Palliative Care ward and the Fraser Valley Cancer Clinic.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Cancer Foundation. Celebration of Life to be held Saturday, January 20, 2007 at 10:00 am at Victory Memorial Funeral Centre, located at 14831 28th Avenue, Surrey.
