WILTON, NANCE

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Nance Wilton, on February 20, 2009 at Peace Arch Hospital, at the age of 84 after a valiant struggle with cancer.

Her kind and gentle heart will be missed especially by her 5 children: sons Glyn and Gareth (Maureen), daughters Jan (Ron) & Sandy (Percy) all of the lower mainland and daughter Dilys of North Wales, UK. Also left with fond memories are her 6 grandchildren: Steve (Mariska), Tanya, Jeff (Kristen) & Tiffany, and in North Wales, Andrea (Tremayne) & Mark. Nance also leaves behind 4 beloved grandchildren; Hannah, Tijn, Dacen & Mila & a new great -grandson born 3 days after her passing.

Predeceased by her husband Lawrence in 1976, & her sister Catherine in 2002, Nance is survived by her brothers Glyn Edwards (Mary) & Gareth Edwards (Gwen) in Wales, and her sister Dilys Downie (Robin) in England. Born and raised in Caernarfon, North Wales, Nance met and married Lawrence Wilton, a Canadian soldier from Ontario, in 1945, and they came back to Canada in 1946, and immediately moved west and settled in Maple Ridge, retiring to White Rock in 1972.

Nance will be remembered fondly by her many friends in White Rock, especially the ladies of the Auxilliary of Peace Arch Hospital, where she volunteered at the information desk for 27 years and for her years of service in the Superfluity Shop; also by the "bridge ladies" with whom she enjoyed many Thursday afternoons over the past 3 decades. A special thanks to Dr. Cheyne and the doctors and wonderful nurses & staff of the Palliative Unit at PAH who took such splendid care of our mother over the final 9 weeks.

A memorial tea will be held in her honour at 10:30 am Thursday, February 26, 2009 at Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre, South Surrey. No flowers by request - the family requests instead donations to the Palliative Unit of PAH or to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Rest in Peace, Mom - We love you
