NIGEL BREWIS

NIGEL BREWIS passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2009 at the age of 83 at the Hogg Pavilion, Peace Arch Hospital, in Surrey, BC, after suffering from a neurodegenerative disorder. He is survived by his wife Elsie, to whom he was married for 60 years, his son Graham, daughter Pam, son-in-law Russ and grandchildren, Amanda and Kimberly. Nigel served in the Royal Navy during World War II. His 38-year career in banking included working in Britain and Canada (Royal Bank) and culminated in international postings where he and Elsie lived abroad for over a decade in Barbados, Trinidad and finally Hong Kong, where he retired as a Vice -President in 1984. He was an avid golfer who made a hole-in-one at the Royal Hong Kong Golf Club. He took pride in gardening and enjoyed sailing and cottage living (Ontario) during summer as well as travel. Earlier in his life he was an active choir member in Dundas and Toronto. He was described by many people as hospitable, gregarious and generous. He will be missed by family and friends. Thank you to the staff of the Al Hogg Pavilion for their kindness and attention to Nigel, especially during his final hours. A special thank you for the kindness and support shown to Elsie. Memorial service will be held at Victory Memorial Park, 14831 28 Avenue, Surrey, BC V4P 1P3 (off King George Highway at 148th Street) on Saturday Jan. 30th, 2010 at 2:00 PM.
