NEWMAN, Peter George

June 1934 to October 11th, 2008

In a heartbeat, or lack of one, our lives changed forever with the sudden and unexpected passing of our father & husband, Peter Newman. Born in Poplar, London, England to Ivy and Harry Newman, he was schooled at Christ Hospital in Horsham, England and then went on to work in the city of London for a merchant banker. Peter joined the military at 18 and served in the Wiltshire Regiment and later in the 22nd SAS. After military service he received his Teacher's diploma at Dudley College. He went on to teach for 30 years in different places of the world including the UK, Jamaica, Saudi Arabia and Canada.

In 1970, he married Terry Mahussier in Pre Ste. Marie, Saskatchewan. For the next 38 years they happily travelled and worked together in Canada and around the world. His greatest joy was the adoption of his daughter Deborah Lee, in 1977. In 1988, Peter and Terry bought a home in South Surrey and lived there contently to the last day of his life. Upon retirement, Peter became even more active with his hobbies of sailing, trekking, music, choir and detailed planning of extended holidays to exotic places whilst being the strength and support for his family. He is predeceased by his parents and will be greatly missed by his wife Terry and daughter Deb, his older brother John (Pat) of Poole, UK, plus nephew John and niece Gillian and their families.

Please join us for a celebration of life at the Woodgrove clubhouse at 2588 - 152nd on Sunday, October 19th between 4 - 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
