July 27, 2007

GAGNE, Ronald 22 Oct 24 to 27 July 07 – passed away peacefully at age 82 in Peace Arch Hosp with Norma, his loving wife of 59 years, 296 days, at his side. Ron is survived by two daughters (Elaine and husband Ted Marchant; Joanne and husband Larry Renaud) plus 4 grandsons (Brent, Chris, Craig and Dan) and two great-grandchildren (Bailey and Derion) as well as his sister Terry and her husband Gaston Roy and numerous loving in-laws, nieces and nephews, and friends. Ron was born on a farm in rural Sask. and later became superintendent for the Pioneer Grain Co. in Eston. He had adventures in the gold mines of BC and once worked simultaneously as a grain elevator agent, town mayor, fire chief, garbage collector, elections officer, general contractor and harvester-thresher driver extraordinaire - he was truly a jack of all trades. Ron was much loved and appreciated for the twinkle in his eye, his quick sense of humor, a love of practical jokes, his superb talent at 8-ball, and as the ultimate Mr. Fix-It. Thank you to the PAH Palliative Care Unit for making his final days calm and serene. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the White Rock Hospice Society. A Celebration of Ron’s Life will be held on Sunday, Aug 19 at 2 p.m. at Sunnyside Villas Community Room, 2603 – 151 St., Surrey (604 538 8308).
