Tribute to Ronald Ernest Galey
(1944 - 2017)
Project Ron was completed on May 6, 2017 after a 2 year fight from injuries in a tragic accident to regain his new life and succumbing to complications after his colon cancer surgery. His life was filled with many projects, adventures and song filled times. Ron was predeceased by his father Ernest Daniel Galey and his mother Gladys Hope Simmons. Ron was a Son, Brother, one of a kind Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Uncle, Friend and Project Leader touching so many lives which made them more
productive and happier by his presence.
Ron Galey, born Kindersley SK Dec 8, 1944 is survived by his wife and best friend MaryAnne Galey and The Galey Gang, daughters, Tanya (Mike) Lackey, Shelley (Craig) McDonald, Robin Galey, Sharon (Dean) Seidler, Curt (Jaylyne) Galey, Scott (Cori), Sis Bernice (Jim), his brothers Norm (Bev), Cliff (Donna) 15 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grand Children, former wife Laurie and many nephews, nieces and friends.
Ron grew up on a farm in Kindersley SK and after trade school became a sought after Welder, Construction Manager and Project Leader. Ron was a hardworking, talented man when he married his soul mate and best friend MaryAnne. With eight strong individuals they formed an interesting and awesome family team known as “The Galey Gang”. They camped weekends and motorcycled with their family and friends. Once in a while Ron took time to “Pick & Grin,” he loved to go golfing and visit with family and friends. The rest of the time he “worked, ate and slept”. Some of Ron’s friends from work became extended family and their respect for each other and many project achievements made for memorable lifelong connections.
Ron fought for his life many times and always had the Courage to Come Back. “Rock on Ron” and know you have touched many hearts and made life a better place for those you loved.

Calgary, AB. A West Coast “Remembrance” open house in honour of Ron to be announced for a 2017 summer date in August. Special thanks to Dr. Jason Forbes, Dr. S and the nurses and staff at the Peace Arch Hospital as well as Dr. Ish Ahmed and the nurses and staff at Surrey Memorial Critical Care for their compassion and care of Ron.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
