Laronde (nee Baird), Ruby Agnes
November 15, 1924 – February 15, 2017 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother (Nana). Predeceased by her husband Ralph, daughter Suzanne, daughter-in-law Irene and all her siblings. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Michele (Marc), David, and Denise; grandchildren David (Trish), Andy (Justine), Rachel (Ryan), Nathan and Katherine; greatgrandchildren Eva, Max and Georgia; and many nieces and nephews. Born on the family farm in Kinburn (Fitzroy), Ontario, she was the fourth of six children with a strong belief in hard work. Ruby was the first in her family to graduate from high school. As a young woman she graduated from secretarial college and worked for IBM before marrying our Dad. Dad’s military career took them to Toronto, Moose Jaw, England, France and finally back to Ottawa. Upon Dad’s retirement, they moved to Ocean Park where Mom became active in a number of community organizations, including St Mark’s Anglican Church, the Royal Canadian Legion, the hospital auxiliary, and the White Rock South Surrey Stroke Recovery Club. Mom had many loving friends whom she enjoyed spending time with. She loved the outdoors, gardening, a good bridge game and babysitting the grandchildren. She was a beautiful seamstress and knitter. Her energy was amazing. We would like to thank Dr. Benitez-Gomez for his wonderful care of Mom. Mom was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. A funeral service for Mom will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 28th, 2017 at St Mark’s Anglican Church, Surrey, BC.
