Russell Edward KOEPKE

KOEPKE: Russell Edward, born April 12, 1917 in Cleveland, Ohio, passed away in his sleep at Peace Arch Hospital on February 10th, 2006.

He was predeceased by his parents, three brothers and three sisters. He served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945, later locating in California. It was here he met his future wife Grace Hunter (born Broadview, Sask)

They were married in Las Vegas in 1963 and made many return trips to enjoy the entertainment & slots.

In 1972, they moved to Burnaby, and six years ago moved to White Rock. They loved to play "Bingo" and made many friends at the Beacon and Forest Grove in Blaine, Wash.

Russ was fondly known as the "Quilt Man" over the years he made many beautiful quilts which he enjoyed giving away and donating to Weatherby Pavilion at Peace Arch Hospital where Grace is a resident. He was also a talented baker & supplied goodies to his neighbours at Evergreen Baptist Manor, to the residents at Weatherby & also his "Bingo Buddies"

Russ is survived by his loving wife and soul mate Grace, a niece Beverly Tokarcik of Bedford Hts, Ohio. Also survived by two sisters-in-law, Stella Stickland and her family of Regina, Jessie Hunter and her family of Parksville and a brother-in-law William Hunter of Kanata, Ont.

Cremation has taken place with no service by request. He will be missed.
