Sophie (Sophie Turko) in Vancouver, tragically, early on Saturday morning December 21, 2002. Survived by her loving, dedicated husband Richard. Loving mother of Michael Turko and his wife Lin, and Christopher Turko and his wife Jan. Adored by step-daughters Linda Amey, Kathy Savage and Brenda Prokopich and their families. Cherished grandmother of David Turko, Alex and Eric Turko, and extended family grandchildren; Lauren and Erin Amey; Laina, Kailee, Robert and David Savage; Nadia and Nicholas Prokopich. Survived by her dear sisters Vera Gage and Stella Wozny.
Sophie had a unique way of making the people she came in contact with feel special and loved. Her passing has saddened us beyond words, but her spirit endures and will be reminding us to enjoy every bit of our lives to the fullest, as did she.
A celebration of Sophie's life was held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2003 at the First United Church, 15385 Semiahmoo Ave., White Rock, B.C., a reception followed. In lieu of flowers or donations, Sophie would simply want you to help brighten somebody's day with a kind word or helping hand.
