Thelma Bettina Gumley

November 14, 2003

It is with the deepest regret that we announce the passing of our beloved Thelma Bettina - wife, mother, grandmother and friend - on November 14, 2003 at Peace Arch Hospital.

Born in Chester, England in August of 1924, Thelma leaves a rich legacy of love and cherished memories - for in her was the indomitable spirit of the pioneer, ardent golfer, lover of nature, tender gardener, creative artist and endeared friend to many.

Thelma will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 58 years, Frank, her sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Linda, Keith and Gloria, Mark and Kimm and her eight grandchildren, Blair, Maxwell, Steven, Justina, Chelsea, Katelin, Jane and Trent. She spent countless hours guiding and caring for all of us, as first and foremost she was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother to our family.

An avid golfer, Thelma enjoyed many wonderful times with the ladies at the Nico Wynd Golf Club as well as the many friends that she has made over the years through her involvement in the artistic community in White Rock.

Thelma Bettina was a complete person, always quick with an opinion, gracious with a consoling remark and there with a smile when it was most needed. She found joy in simple pleasures and had a very rich and full life of travel, adventure and discovery.

The family wishes to express its heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Peace Arch Hospital and to the Home Care staff of White Rock for their wonderful care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Peace Arch Hospital Foundation or to the Canadian Cancer Society would be sincerely appreciated.
