February 21, 2006

NORCOTT: Thomas Jack, beloved husband of Mary for 63 years, passed away peacefully in Peace Arch Hospital, White Rock, BC at the age of 87 on Tuesday, February 21st. Jack was predeceased by brother, Bill; sister, Elsie; and grandsons Todd and Chris. He was a devoted and loving father to sons Mike, Dave and Gary; grandfather to Michael, Kelly, Kim, Tanys, Erik, Laura, Greg and Lindsay; great-grandfather to 'little Mikey', who always put a smile on his face, and new great-granddaughter, Grace. 'Big Jack', as he was affectionately called, was a decorated Canadian war veteran, serving in the UK and Europe from 1939-1945. Those years in the military were very important to him. After the war, he became actively involved in the Canadian Legion and was awarded the honour of 'Lifetime Member'. Upon retirement in 1979 from CNR headquarters in Montreal, Jack & Mary headed west where they settled in White Rock and enjoyed many happy years of new friends & experiences, especially with the White Rock Bowling Club, White Rock Lions and Canadian Legion Branches #8 and #240. Big Jack will best be remembered for his positive attitude, great sense of humour and his penchant for having fun. Jack is now gone but won't be forgotten. His legacy will be the memories of all the great times we had together and the principles and values he taught us. A memorial service will be held in the chapel at Victory Gardens, 14831 - 28th Avenue, South Surrey, on Tuesday, February 28th at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Peace Arch Hospital Foundation.
