Walter Lisk

Long time resident of New Westminster and White Rock, died peacefully in his sleep on December 27, 2002 at Morgan Place Care Facility, South Surrey aged 91 years, with his son Gary at his side. Walter was raised in North Burnaby as the eldest child of Walter Lisk and Charlotte Boggiss, he was born September 14, 1911 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Margaret (Gibbs); daughter Dorothy Jones and husband Morris of New Westminster; son Gary and wife Deborah of McMinnville, Oregon; nephew Bob Gervan and wife Madge of South Surrey and Poppa to grand-daughter Mandy Jones and grandson Daniel Lisk. Also survived by sisters Marguerite Gowans of Mission; Hyacinth Braithwaite of Penticton and Joan Berglund of Huntington Beach, California and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he is predeceased by twin sister Dolly; twin sisters Lily and Florence; and sister Gloria. Walter had a long career in the newspaper business working for The Vancouver Star, Vancouver News Herald, Vancouver Province, and Vancouver Times. After retiring, he obtained his Real Estate Licence and continued in the realty business until he was almost 80 years old.

Memorial service was held at Peace Portal Alliance Church, 15128 - 28 Ave. South Surrey at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2003. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice. Special thanks to the staff of Morgan Place, especially Cobden wing.
