William George Michie

November 20, 2005

On the morning of November 20, 2005, Bill Michie went peacefully to be with his Lord.

He was born on January 10, 1916 in Elrose, Sask.

Bill was predeceased by his son, William James (Jim), his sister, Mabel Welsh, and step-grandson, Chad Collingwood.

He is survived by Helene, his loving wife of 63 years, his sons, Bob (Mari) and Jack (Louise), daughter-in-law Shirley, his five grandchildren, Tara (Craig), Jodi (Adam), Todd, Davene, Terryl (Rod), his stepgrandchildren, Chris (Charlotte) and Carrie (Billy), great grandchildren, Maddison, Kyara, Shayla and Caitlyn and sisters, Mary Lerner and Edna Chambers.

Bill grew up on the family farm at Lacadena, Sask, which he then farmed until he moved the famly to Saskatoon in 1957.

Bill was the Reeve of the Lacadena Municipality for many years.

He moved with Helene and Jack to White Rock, BC in 1962, where he worked as foreman at Victory Memorial Park and Garden of Gethsemani Cemetery until he retired in 1991.

He enjoyed his retirement in Eston and White Rock.

Hockey, baseball and pool were passions of Bill's - playing, coaching and watching.

He spent many hours coaching and driving his three sons to games.

From a very young age, Bill was building, fixing, welding and creating.

If he needed something he'd build it and if something was broken, he'd fix it.

Bill had a great sense of humor and loved to be part of every practical joke.

Bill will be dearly missed.

A Family Remembrance Service was held at Garden of Gethsemani Cemetery on Friday, November 25, 2005.
