November 6, 2006

William Alexander Tough Jr. (Bill) passed away peacefully at the age of 54 after an extended battle with cancer. Bill is predeceased by his mother Lillian (1988), and will be sadly missed by his father William Tough and his wife Pat, brothers Rick (Gladys), Michael (Christine), sister Kathy, nieces, nephews and many devoted friends.

Bill was born in Vancouver to William and Lillian Tough, raised in Surrey and then in North Delta where he graduated from North Delta Secondary. Bill excelled in academics and received a scholarship to UBC where he graduated in 1976 with a Commerce degree. Bill worked for many years in Toronto as an industrial accountant and comptroller for Gesco Industries before returning in 1989 to his roots on the West Coast where he worked as the comptroller for Western Versatile Construction Corp. until 2005.

Bill was always at the leading edge of technology and until his last days was fully utilizing the internet for his various interests, including downloading music, vintage movies and television shows from the 50's and 60's, which he had enjoyed collecting for many years. As an avid reader throughout his life, Bill enjoyed reading several newspapers every day, as well as thousands of novels that provided him a very special perspective on the world's history and life in general. Bill's fondest memories included his frequent trips to Mexico enjoying the Mexican people and their culture, as well as the great salmon fishing days that he spent in Hakai Pass.

In lieu of flowers, his family requests that any donation be made in memory of Bill to your favorite charity. No formal service by request, although a celebration of Bill's life will be scheduled in the near future.
