Winifred C. Holman

Winifred C. of Ocean Park, BC died on September 29, 2004 in Phoenix, AZ, age 98 years.

Born August 17, 1906 in Blythe, England Winifred left England in 1909 with her parents, Joseph and Jane Summerfield to live in Canada. The family settled in North Vancouver. She had three brothers, Norman, Roland and Sidney Summerfield. Winifred worked in the family business "Summerfield Oil and Furnaces". She married Frank Holman and they had one son Richard S. Holman. All of the above listed relatives have preceded her in death.

Over her married life to Frank Holman who was a Canadian Nat'l Railway Manager she lived in Regina Saskatchewan, Nanaimo BC, Vernon BC and Surrey BC where she was constantly welcoming guests from all over.

Winifred was a wonderful seamstress who loved making dresses and nightgowns, blankets etc,. for all the great-grandchildren. She enjoyed making and painting ceramics and unlimited craft work. Winifred was a member of the Eastern Star Organization. She was a member of St. John's Presbyterian Church in White Rock, BC

Win was so thankful for her wonderful neighbours who were all so good to her and has a long list of beloved people in her life.

Survivors are a daughter-in-law, Monica Johnston, a sister-in-law Morva Summerfield; two grandsons, Rick (Jill) Holman of Phoenix, AZ and Chris (Alysse) Holman of Napa, CA; and seven great-grandchildren (who brought her great joy) Morgan, Mackenzie, Hannah, Hayden, Miranda, Drake and most recently Kylie Holman, born September 20, 2004.

There was a funeral service at St. John's Presbyterian Church, 1480 George Street in White Rock at 10:30 am, on Saturday, October 2nd. Burial followed at the City of North Vancouver Cemetery. Donations can be made to Hospice of the Valley in Phoenix, AZ or to St. John's Presbyterian Church.
