Yvonne Victoria Dubac

It is with much love and sadness that our family announces the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister and friend to so many. She passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the Peace Arch District Hospital at the age of 92. She was born on May 24, 1924 in Sperling, Manitoba to Alexander and Alice McIvor. Yvonne is predeceased by her husband Richard, her parents, brothers George Delorme, Joseph Delorme, Roger Delorme, Alexander (Chic) McIvor and Ronald McIvor, and sisters, Ada Woo and Eileen Haddad, and by her daughter Wanda Strobel. Yvonne is survived by her daughters Michele (Bob) Butchart and Diana (Bruce) Clark, son Leonard (Ellen) Strobel, brother Lyle (Sharon) McIvor, sisters-in-law Gail McIvor and Joyce McIvor, eight cherished grandchildren and 15 cherished great grandchildren, many very special nieces and nephews, as well as some very special friends. Yvonne was a very caring, compassionate and dedicated nurse. She worked for many years in the surrounding hospitals and nursing care homes and finished her career at Peace Arch District Hospital. We found several letters from the families of loved ones that Yvonne had cared for through the years so there was no doubt she was an outstanding credit to her profession. She especially had a gift for caring for the elderly people. Yvonne served our country in World War II as an Army nurse. Thank you Mom for your service! Yvonne was a longtime member of the Order of the Royal Purple Lodge (Elks Club). She enjoyed it very much and we have lots of photos to prove it. Yvonne loved her family and her home. Anyone who knew our Mom knows she almost always had a broom or mop in her hands! We are positive she is doing an excellent job keeping everything “spic and span” in heaven! Mass of Christian Burial for Yvonne is scheduled for Monday, March 27, 2017 at 1:30 pm at the Good Shepherd Church, 2250 – 150th Street, Surrey, B.C. V4A 9J3, Phone 604-531-5739. Father Ray will be the celebrant for the Mass. Prayers and viewing will preceed Mass starting at 12:30 pm. Internment in the Carman, Manitoba cemetery is expected to take place sometime in May 2017. Arrangements pending. Amherst Funeral Home is in care of arrangements and we are so grateful for your kind compassionate service. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. Love and miss you so much, Mom. Rest in the loving arms of our heavenly Father.
