At the risk of repetition, I would like to add my voice to the people objecting to the speculation tax and how it is being implemented.
For the record, I do not have a second house in B.C., but I do have a sense of fair play and this tax is in no way fair or equitable.
Having a second vacation home that is used seasonally or on a weekend basis by a person who pays taxes in British Columbia is not a vacant home, nor is it speculative. Putting a tax on this house is a money grab, pure and simple.
It will not end up in the rental pool, because how can you rent a house on a partial-week or partial-month basis?
A speculation, empty home tax can be implemented on those homes that are owned by off-shore individuals, who pay little or no taxes in British Columbia.
Why the current government is penalizing a hard-working B.C. family is beyond me.
