Re: Community spirit exemplified, Sept. 13 letter.
I completely endorse the comments made by letter-writer Joyce Key regarding Buy-Low.
Ever since I moved into the neighbourhood 17 years ago, I have experienced first-hand the special role Buy-Low has played here. It’s true. They go far beyond the standard corporate business practices of the mega-chains. Their kindness, generosity and community spirit will not soon be forgotten.
And replacing this gem?
Two more monoliths, with street-level ‘boutique’ shops which have no connection to our daily shopping needs.
Slowly and surely the soul of this community is being demolished in favour of the new and the big.
Ask yourself this: where will you fit into the White Rock of the future?
