Losing the Buy Low sucks (Buy Low patrons bid adieu, Oct. 4).
Ten years ago, we had the liquor store, a delicatessen and a small grocery store all in one place. Oh, and a nice restaurant called Friends! That’s all gone now in the name of progress.
My family was having dinner Sunday and we had run out of ketchup. Normally I would whip over to Buy Low and be back in 10 minutes. Now I have to drive to a big-box store that is so large it has its own gravity field.
Towers going up, bulldozing old buildings, huge flat top, ugly housing, everywhere. We are certainly losing the small-town feeling. Just drive around our once-cozy ‘city by the sea.’
How do these builders get approval for houses that look like hotels? Very sad.
