Editor:

I consider that the Vancouver Aquarium is a treasure that belongs to all of B.C. and should not be under the rule of the City of Vancouver via their parks board.

Is there any chance that steps can be taken to have the province be the custodian of the provincial – if not national – treasure?

The presence of cetaceans in the aquarium, to quote a marine biologist who worked hard to have dolphin-friendly tuna fishing, “they are ambassadors of their species.”

It is important that the public be allowed to be up close and in contact with these beings.

As a resident of Surrey, I have no say in what happens to this facility that is so important to many people that are not part of Vancouver.

Any chance the province could take over?
