Re: 12-year-olds set to take on the world, Aug. 16.

Go, White Rock, go!

You gotta love those boys in Williamsport, Pa, having the time of their young lives – hitting long drives over outfield fences, brazing balls past their opponents in the batter’s box, gathering up with ease any ball hit in their direction, either on the ground or in the air.

Congratulations, boys, on the great run just to get there to the world championships in Williamsport. In the process knocking out with relative ease all of those other talented teams, both in the provincials as well as the Canadian championships.

We back here at home in White Rock/South Surrey are extremely proud, both of your play on the field, and the way you are handling yourselves with the press when interviewed.

So good luck the rest of the way and do have fun. We will be back here cheering loudly for you and soaking up both the good ball as well as basting in the glory and praise that you are bringing to our lovely little city by the sea.

See you when you get home, hopefully with a world championship trophy for Canada! But whatever the outcome, continue to enjoy the journey and to always win with pride and to lose with grace.

You have indeed make us all very proud both here in White Rock/SouthSurrey, as well as, I’m sure, in the rest of Canada.

Good luck, boys, the rest of the way – go get em.

Now, let’s “play ball!”

Barry Cameron, White Rock
