For life in the Downtown Eastside, the pay – Welfare Wednesday – is not the greatest, but the benefits are fantastic.

Free needles, free ‘shooting up’ galleries fully staffed with medical professionals, also free antidote kits, should you overindulge. Addiction has become an industry. There are two pages of free recovery houses, advocacy groups, accommodation, clothing, etc.

It’s disgusting to see where much of our tax money is going.

The government, custodians of our tax dollars, now want to supply those patients – it’s classified as a medical problem – with clean heroine and cocaine.

Working taxpayers, many of whom if found with drugs would be terminated, are now financing this lifestyle, yet see the drug problem expanding through north Surrey down to Newton. South Surrey is next.

It would be interesting if our tax custodians would publish just how many patients have been ‘cured.’

There is something ‘off-base’ when taxpayers have to fund the drug dealers.
