International concerns

Editor:

Re: Douse coal concerns, Jan. 21 letters.

Dust pollution is not the only problem.

The coal trains through White Rock originate in the US. We are not producing or selling this coal. We are only facilitating the sale of American coal, whereas American states are very resistant to opening their own coal ports. They do not want to put up with the noise, particulate emissions from diesel engines or mile-long trains blocking our roads.

Selling our own coal is fine.

But adding another coal terminal to ship U.S. coal is not fine.

Barry Bradley, Surrey
