Runners lace up for national cross-country meet
A handful of South Surrey runners will be lacing up their sneakers at Vancouver’s Jericho Park this weekend, at the Canadian Cross-Country Championships.
The event is co-hosted by Ocean Athletics, along with the Hersey Harriers club, and will feature three Ocean Athletics’ athletes.
Deon Clifford and Peggy Noel, both members of B.C.’s provincial cross-country team, and Alison Williams will take part.
Three other runners with Peninsula ties, Jack Williams – Alison’s brother – and Elgin Park Secondary graduates Luc and Jake Bruchet will represent the UBC Thunderbirds at the event. Jack Williams and Jake Bruchet will compete in the junior race, and Luc will run in the senior division.
