Grey Cup to tour Surrey and White Rock
The oldest trophy in Canadian sports will make its way to the Semiahmoo Peninsula next week.
The Canadian Football League’s Grey Cup – which was won by the B.C. Lions Nov. 27 – will be on a week-long tour of the province beginning Sunday (Jan. 29). At various points throughout the tour, the Grey Cup will be accompanied by B.C. Lions players Travis Lulay, Paul McCallum, Geroy Simon and Angus Reid.
The trophy arrives in South Surrey at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3 for an event at Boston Pizza (1956 152 St.) and the following day, will make stops in Cloverdale, Ocean Park and SFU’s Surrey campus.
At 9:30 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 4), the Grey Cup will be at Cloverdale Arena for an event featuring Surrey Mayor Dianne Watts and MLAs Stephanie Cadieux and Kevin Falcon, and from noon until 2:30 p.m., the cup will be at the Ocean Park Community Centre (1577 128 St.) for a lunch event with local minor football players.
Following Ocean Park, the Grey Cup will be at the SFU Surrey campus (250-13450 102 Ave.) from 3:30-5 p.m.
Last month, the Grey Cup toured Surrey, making a stop at Cloverdale's Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary.
