Surrey Eagles set to begin training camp
The Surrey Eagles returned to the ice this week, as training camp opened today (Monday).
The Eagles, who advanced to BC Hockey League Coastal Conference finals last year before being ousted by the Powell River Kings, will hold twice-daily practices for prospective and returning players, and players – split into two squads – will scrimmage each evening until the three-day camp closes Wednesday.
Surrey will play its first preseason game Friday, Aug. 24 when they host the Langley Rivermen at South Surrey Arena. Puck drops at 7 p.m. The following day, the two teams will play a rematch at the Langley Sportsplex, also at 7 p.m.
The Eagles will also play four more exhibition games, two each against the Coquitlam Express and Chilliwack Chiefs, before the regular season begins in September.
