A strong showing by White Rock Amateur Swim Association (WRASA) competitors at the 2012 Provincial Championships included a record-setting performance in the 200-metre medley relay.

Michael Dolmat, Kevin Mason, Chris Weiss and Ryan Szostak took gold with a time of 1:51.96, bettering the provincial 17-19 record of 1:52.46 set in 2004.

The Aug. 13-19 B.C. Summer Swimming Association event in Nanaimo saw WRASA swimmers rack up the highest points total in the province, giving the White Rock club its first provincial team win since 2003 and supporting the first regional win for Fraser South in “as long as anyone can remember,” according to the club website at www.wrasa.ca

Six-time WRASA winners Katherine Toy, Kevin Mason and Ben Berg medalled in all four of their individual events and their two relay events and went on to swim the medley relay representing the Fraser South Region and take gold to boost their individual medal counts to seven.

Some of the many other multiple winners included: Michael Dolmat with two gold medals, one silver and one bronze; Stephanie Lee, with one gold and two silver; Nadia McGowan, with one gold and two silvers; and Mikaela Wilson, with individual gold, silver and bronze performances.

Based on a breakdown of results provided by the club, other gold medal winners included Hanna Milic, Kelli Ruim, Stephanie Pak, David Zhang, Milos Miljenovic, Mark Stewart, Brian Johns, Paisley Samoil, Emma Lawson, Spencer Hillman and James Bogart.

Silver medals were won by Zadie Fack, Leah Wilson, Nyah Angus, Emily Williams, Celine Dempsey, Vicky Luan and Joshua Hueller.

Bronze medal winners included Rachel Brownrigg, Jordan Gee, Zhuo Blagee, George Brownrigg, Wonsucc Lee, Jaryd Middleton and Andrew Bishop.
