Scott regains first place standings
Kelly Scott is once again alone atop the standings at the BC Scotties in Cloverdale.
Scott, from Kelowna, defeated Prince George's Patti Knezevic 6-4 in Draw 7 Thursday morning at the Cloverdale Curling Club. The two teams went into the game tied for top spot with 5-1 (won-loss) records.
Knezevic fell a game back of Scott, and is now tied for second place with Marla Mallett of the Cloverdale Curling Club. Mallett improved to 5-2 by overcoming a 4-0 deficit to beat Simone Groundwater of Williams Lake.
Groundwater dropped to 1-6 and is eliminated from playoff contention.
Three teams are deadlocked for fourth place at 4-3.
Allison MacInnes of Abbotsford dropped into the three-way tie after falling 8-7 to Lori Olsen of the Royal City Curling Club. She's tied with Marilou Richter and Kirsten Fox, the other two Royal City teams in the provincial championship competition.
Richter stopped Roberta Kuhn of Vernon in nine ends while Fox topped Simone Brosseau of Juan de Fuca 8-5.
Brosseau, Kuhn and Olsen are all at 2-5, and will likely miss the playoff round which begins tomorrow (Friday).
The final two draws are tonight (Thursday) at 6:30 p.m. and tomorrow at 9 a.m.
