Elgin Park Secondary grad Jess Franz – now a fifth-year senior with the University of Calgary Dinos – was named an athlete of the week by Canada West on Monday.

Last Friday, Franz, a forward who was a member of Elgin Park's 2008 provincial-title winning team, finished with a game-high 23 points and nine rebounds, leading the Dinos knock off the No. 1-ranked Fraser Valley Cascades.

The following night, Franz record a double-double – 16 points, 16 boards – in a victory over the Trinity Western University Spartans.

Calgary has the best record in Canada West with a 12-2 record.
