White Rock-South Surrey Thunder win gold

The White Rock-South Surrey Thunder ’99 softball team is bound for provincials, after winning gold at the District 7 ‘B’ fastpitch championships earlier this month.

At district championships, held June 16, the Thunder swept through the competition, outscoring their opponents 23-1 in three games.

The team was without pitcher Andie Coulthard – who was sitting out due to a recent injury – but the team got strong performances from fellow pitchers Michaela Epp and Sarah Herbert en route to the district title.

The win was the second big victory for the Thunder in recent weeks; two weeks before districts, the team won gold at the Acers North Classic, a tournament in Seattle.

Now, the Thunder set their sights on provincial championships, which are slated for July 12-14 in Abbotsford.
