Pacific Sea Wolves third at UBC meet

The Pacific Sea Wolves had a big weekend in the pool earlier this month, placing third overall at the UBC AAA long-course (50-m) championships.

Numerous PSW swimmers swam to personal bests in a variety of events, including Alex Blaskovich, 14, who notched nine personal-best times and won three silver medals – in the 400-m and 1,500-m freestyle and 400-m individual medley.

Lydia Doyon, 15, won bronze in the 400-m free and placed top-8 in three other races, and Catherine Grimme won gold in the 100-m and 200-m backstroke, and silver in the 400-m and 800-m free.

Bailey Mothe had nine personal-bests and won the 200-m backstroke and claimed silver in the 100-m backstroke; Esmee Smit-Anseeuw had four PBs, winning gold in the 100- and 200-m butterfly, 100-m breaststroke, and 200- and 400-m IM.

Edwin Zhao won gold in the 100- and 200-m back, and silver in the 200-m free.

Others with personal-bests were Ariana Aktary, Adriana Blaskovitch, Olivvya Chow, Megan Clapham, Darian Fry, Kanata Kitegawa, Kota Kitegawa, Isabelle Lei, Emily Liang, Mason Lin, Horace Liu, Tony Ma, Kevin McDonough, Quinton Richert, Marija Robinson, Katrina Shinkaruk, Aksel Smit-Anseeuw, Lauren Stoten and Jill Xu.
