Comfort Keepers is trying to collect 1

Comfort Keepers collected 79 cans of tuna at an open house earlier this month and is continuing to accept donations in its effort to amass 1,000 tins before the end of June.

The food will benefit Surrey Food Bank’s hamper program for seniors.

“Senior hunger and malnutrition is more prevalent than people realize,” a release states.

“Hunger can be caused by lack off funds; mobility issues to get to a grocery store or food bank; cognitive issues to select, prepare and store food, resulting in consumption of expired foods; and more.”

Donation drop-off locations include the Comfort Keepers office, 14-1480 Foster St.; Thrifty Foods in Morgan Crossing; the RBC branch in Ocean Park and the South Surrey White Rock Chamber of Commerce office, 100-15261 Russell Ave.
