Wal-Mart Canada is gearing up for a coast-to-coast campaign to raise much-needed funds for local Canadian Red Cross disaster response activities.
The initiative will run in Wal-Mart stores – including the Supercentre location in Grandview Corners – until Aug. 31, with a goal of raising $308,200 for B.C. and the Yukon, and $2.8 million nationally.
“Funds raised will help the Canadian Red Cross be prepared to provide assistance within hours of a disaster,” David Magnuson-Ford, B.C. fund development manager of the Canadian Red Cross, said in a release. “We’re very excited to work with Wal-Mart during this annual fundraising campaign, and know that Wal-Mart shoppers will get behind the Canadian Red Cross.”
To support the campaign, customers at Wal-Mart checkouts will be given the opportunity to make a donation.
