More than 180 Envision Financial employees offered a helping hand to projects throughout the Fraser Valley this month, including the Surrey Food Bank, as part of an annual volunteer service effort.

In all, 14 projects throughout the Lower Mainland were tackled, from painting to preparing meals.

Envision communications specialist Jeremy Whittingstall described the opportunity to see the Surrey Food Bank's workings firsthand as "amazing."

“(It) gave me a greater appreciation for both the work they do and the support that is needed," he said.

"I will definitely make sure to donate food and supplies in the future.”

Jackie Baron, senior vice-president of governance and corporate strategy, described the experience as "humbling."

"With the everyday demands of work and family life, finding time to volunteer in the community can be anything but simple," Envision president Shelley Bess explained. "Our community volunteer service week gives staff the opportunity to volunteer during work hours, providing them with insight into the social issues in our local communities and a chance to give back.”

Since inception, Envision’s community volunteer week program has served 73 projects region-wide, with 3,267 community hours donated.
