Healthy boost

Surrey Pain and Wellness Clinic is giving free consultations to new patients who make a donation to the Surrey Food Bank.

The offer – part of the clinic’s Healthier Together campaign – has brought in both food and cash for the non-profit organization.

“The way I see it, as long as the need is there, this initiative will continue,” Dr. Manjit Sadhra said.

The contributions have been well-received by the food bank.

“The outpouring of support by people during the holiday season is terrific, but we are especially grateful for those folks that continue to raise funds and contribute food year-round,” development director Tiffany Parton said.

The offer is just one of a number of incentives the clinic – located at 7128 King George Blvd. – provides to promote healthy living.

“We don’t charge a user fee for those low-income people who are on the supplementary health benefits program,” Sadhra said. “Those folks who are accessing services at the food bank likely cannot afford to pay a premium, so we want to do what we can there as well.”
