The Semiahmoo Peninsula is one step closer to adding a recreation complex and country club to the community.

The Peninsula Club has announced that Stuart Olson Dominion Construction Ltd. has signed on as the development partner for the project.

The club is set for the juncture at King George Boulevard Highway 99 and Crescent Road – where Riverside Golf is currently located – and is touted as a “comprehensive sports, recreation and family-oriented country club.” The club scheduled to open in 2017.

“The Peninsula Club will have a significant impact promoting healthy lifestyles and activities for our members and the community,” Peninsula Club chair Mary Manning said in a news release.

The facility is to include indoor and outdoor tennis, an NHL-sized ice rink, indoor and outdoor pools, a gymnasium and healthy dining.

Memberships will be made available later this year.
