Stillman Books at White Rock's Central Plaza will be back in business tomorrow Saturday (tomorrow) following a flood that forced closure of the store in early December.

Terry Stillman said Monday that he expects new shelving will be complete and his stock will be shipped back from the warehouse in time for his 10:30 a.m. opening.

To celebrate, he's offering a 20 per cent discount on all books until Feb. 19.

Stillman said he came into work on the morning of Dec. 11 to find fallen ceiling tiles  and the "floor sopping wet."

"It was such a shock – my heart dropped to my feet."

Fortunately only some 60-70 books, mostly paperbacks, were damaged, he said.

Although he theorized that water had pooled on the store's flat roof, he said the landlord has told him the culprit was a downpipe with a loose connection.

"Whatever it is, it's fixed and the insurance company has been pretty good in giving me some reimbursement for lost business," he said.
