A Burnaby therapeutic recreation specialist is doing her part to ensure seniors across the Lower Mainland – including South Surrey and White Rock – live an active lifestyle by bringing her program right to their homes.
Jennifer Gilchrist and her team have began bringing the program – which involves a fitness routine tailored to the individual – to the homes of seniors who otherwise may not get the exercise they require.
The idea, according to Gilchrist, is to keep senior healthier, and keep them from "falling through the cracks and out of the medical system."
Gilchrist, who works in White Rock one day per week, is currently seeking government funding for the program to help expand it and turn it into an official not-for-profit endeavour.
