Hope to see everyone at the Kent Street Activity Centre for the last dance of the season featuring the Silver Stars. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with dancing to live music from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets for the June 25 dance are only $9, or $7 if you have a Kent Street Activity Centre membership and can be purchased at the door. Enjoy a fun mix of ballroom, line dance, jive and more in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. What a perfect mid-week pick-me-up. No partners needed. Dances will resume again on Sept. 3.
• The summer excursion season is here and trips are filling up very quickly. There are still some trips that have limited seats available including Granville Island/ False Creek Ferries on June 24, Bard on the Beach July 3, Surrey’s Heritage Rail/Canadian Museum of Flight on July 5 and Capilano Suspension Bridge on July 9. • The Kent Street coffee shop is closing on June 24 for the summer and reopening in September. Make sure you drop in for some delicious homemade cuisine including soup, sandwiches, fresh baked goodies plus stock up on frozen meals between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., Monday to Friday.
• Table Tennis is one of the most active groups at the Kent Street Activity Centre. New members are always welcome to drop in and play a game or two. Summer opportunities to play are abundant and include Mondays 7:15 to 9:15 p.m., Wednesdays 1 to 4 p.m and Saturdays 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information call 604-541-2199 and pick up a guest pass to try out this activity group three times before paying for membership.
• Join the City of White Rock in the ParticipACTION Community Challenge presented by Novo Nordisk. This national physical activity and sport initiative encourages everyone in Canada to get active through June in search of Canada’s most active community. The Community Challenge is open to everyone and there are so many ways to get active through the City of White Rock. • The Kent Street Activity Centre is holding a Ten Card Doubles Cribbage Tournament on Sunday, June 22 at 1 p.m. Cost is $20/team and pre-registration is required. Call 604-541-2199 for more information.
• Canada Day by the Bay, presented by CUPE 718, is back at Memorial Park on July 1 with lots of free, fun entertainment and activities for all ages. Enjoy live music, a vendor row marketplace, Kid’s Zone, and a fireworks finale at 10:15 p.m. Activities begin at noon. For more information visit whiterockcity.ca/canadaday.
• Kent Street Activity Centre will be closed on Tuesday, July 1. Happy 158th Birthday Canada! The Centre will reopen on Wednesday, July 2 at 8:30 a.m.
