White Rock’s mayor and council received a vote of confidence from community members at an appreciation lunch held May 4.
Organized by the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 14615 16 Ave., the event was attended by Mayor Wayne Baldwin and wife, Jane, as well as Coun. Bill Lawrence.
Both Lawrence and Baldwin received a hearty meal and a certificate of recognition and appreciation from church members.
Baldwin also spoke on a number of plans for the future development of White Rock, including zoning changes to increase population density in the town centre, a more active waterfront and upgrading aging facilities.
On the list for the upcoming year includes reconstruction of Victoria Street – including underground services from behind The Boathouse Restaurant on Marine Drive to almost Maple Street, renovation of city hall and reconstruction of Marine Drive from Bayview Park up to Bishop Road, including all underground services.
