Upwards of 100,000 people celebrated Canada's 147th birthday in Cloverdale Tuesday while taking in some live performances and fireworks.

Police say the crowd was extremely well behaved.

A small handful of people were taken away due to public intoxication, and were either brought home or spent the night in police lock up.

The vast majority, however, were on their best behaviour, according to RCMP Cpl. Bert Paquet.

"Considering the amount of people, and how hot the day was, it was successful from a police perspective," Paquet said.

The event was held at the Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre at 176 Street and 64 Avenue.
